Celebrating

20 years of Iconic Red Carpet Moments

During the past two decades, Jimmy Choo has been a consistent presence, favoured by Hollywood stars, royalty and the world’s most fashionable women.

Take a journey through the most iconic entrance making moments over the years.

The Jimmy Choo iconography may be best expressed in its moments under the glare of the paparazzi’s flash. A pioneer in the art of celebrity dressing, Jimmy Choo was amongst the first to draw the focus to the foot, where celebrity muses were shod in the most glamorous Jimmy Choo creations.

Creative director Sandra Choi has, since the beginning, set out to imbue her designs with a unique blend of empowered glamour, wit and enchantment. It’s why Jimmy Choo continues to dazzle and delight in equal measure and remain an enduring fixture of today’s red carpet.

SANDRA ON THE LATE PRINCESS DIANA

'She came to Jimmy Choo via her couture designers and asked Jimmy to make shoes to match. She was very funny, utterly normal and always on the look out for traffic wardens. Little wonder when she would drive straight up to the door of our first shop on Motcomb Street and park on the double yellow lines outside.'

SANDRA ON THE FIRST LADY, MICHELLE OBAMA

'Possibly the most ‘pinch-me-moment’ of my entire career was attending a dinner at the White House. I was staggered by just how informed Michelle was. She’d obviously been briefed, but she knew so much about each person at the dinner – and there were many people there. I was and am thrilled when she chooses to wear Jimmy Choos, especially when you consider we are not an American brand.'

SANDRA ON THE DUCHESS OF CAMBRIDGE

'Again, I’m so flattered when the Duchess chooses to wear our shoes; she has so many, many choices. And I was especially thrilled when the Vamp sold out after 48 hours when she wore them to the LA BAFTA gala. It was a sign of how successful the brand has become. To get to dress two generations of royals has been an honour, and it makes me feel that the Jimmy Choo brand will continue to flourish for many years yet.'

SANDRA ON ANGELINA JOLIE

'Angelina Jolie turned up one day by herself to visit our press suite. She walked around the round the entire room looking at all these samples. The one pair of sandals she wanted to buy there and then was an old pair of black satin pumps that I don’t even think were part of the samples. The memory of one of the most beautiful and stylish women in the world, wanting to buy a tired looking pair of pumps, a long time before ‘vintage’ ever become a ‘thing’ still makes me chuckle.'

SANDRA ON UMA THURMAN

'When actresses come out on the red carpet, they are playing themselves. I was very flattered when she chose a pair of Jimmy Choo flats because not only is she cool, but style-wise the flats on the red carpet looked so modern.'

- Sandra Choi, Creative Director

SANDRA ON ANNA KENDRICK

'Anna Kendrick lyricising Jimmy Choos at the start of the Oscar’s ceremony was a real coup. I’m not sure we could have orchestrated this any better. It also came just after a lot of press coverage of the Cinderella film, so it was a very proud moment. I never forget that everyone has choices. And the fact that they choose to talk about us, well we must be doing something right.'
