Daisy Edgar-Jones Styles Autumn Winter 2020

Wherever you spent lockdown, Daisy Edgar-Jones was with you. The British actor captured the hearts of audiences across the globe with her mesmerising performance as Marianne in the critically acclaimed TV drama Normal People. Now one of the most talked about acting talents, Daisy is also fast becoming a style icon in her own right. Her screen presence and effortless ease with fashion made her the obvious choice for this season’s off-duty glamour inspired Autumn Winter 2020 collection.

“My golden rule to dressing up is to not have a rule,” London-born Daisy, 22, reveals during our campaign shoot set against the backdrop of Chiltern Firehouse, Marylebone. “Day-to-day I like to try different things, so I don’t have a set style.”

Daisy’s love affair with shoes started during childhood. Her cousin, who was studying to be a shoe designer, moved in to her family home and she would play dress up with styles from her collection. Today, Daisy recognises the transformational power accessories, specifically shoes, have in bringing a character to life. She also opens up about combatting doubt, the women she looks up to and her original childhood dream.

WAS THERE A MOMENT IN YOUR CHILDHOOD THAT SPARKED YOUR INTEREST IN FASHION?

"Definitely. It was when my cousin Jacqueline, who was studying shoe design, moved in when I was around seven and she was 22. She was the coolest person and I would try on all her shoes. I was devastated because my feet were always too small for them, and then she moved out. When she moved back in my feet were too big.”

HOW DO YOU OVERCOME DOUBT?

“I’m still working on overcoming doubt. My tip would be to, ‘Fake it ‘til you make it’. If you pretend that everything is fine, slowly you start to believe it.”

WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST CHILDHOOD AMBITION?

"I wanted to be a dairy farmer. I wanted to own a petting farm and call it, ‘Daisy’s Dairy Farm’, because a lot of cows are called Daisy [laughs]. Then, I wanted to be a lawyer, then an actor.”

ARE YOU SOMEONE WHO THINKS ABOUT THE FUTURE? OR ARE YOU MORE OF A DAY-TO-DAY THINKER?

I’m definitely someone who thinks about the future. I’d like to become more of a day-to-day girl, but I am constantly thinking about the next thing.”

WHO ARE SOME OF THE WOMEN YOU LOOK UP TO?

“My mum, she’s the best. And then brilliant writers like Bernadine Evaristo - I think she is incredible. And other young actors, who are women, like Florence Pugh or Saoirse Ronan. I’m a really big fan.”

IF YOU COULD STEP INTO ANYONE’S SHOES FOR A DAY, WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?

" Frida Kahlo. She was so talented and viewed the world in such an interesting way. I would love to see the world though her eyes."

"If you don’t follow any rules and just wear what makes you feel good, it means you can keep having fun"

HOW IMPORTANT IS FASHION WHEN BRINGING A CHARACTER TO LIFE?

"Marianne’s accessories were so helpful because I had to track quite a lot of an age difference over four years. For me, what really helped was the shoes, because I think the way that you walk says a lot about your character. Fashion reinforces how transformative accessories, especially shoes, can be when playing a role.”

WHAT IS YOUR GOLDEN RULE TO DRESSING UP?

"My golden rule is to not have a rule! Day-to-day I like to try different things, so I don’t really have a set style. I think if you don’t follow any rules and just wear what makes you feel good that day, it means you can keep on having fun.”

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSONAL STYLE?

"Day-to-day, my style changes quite a lot. I like to be comfortable but cool if I can, so I love wearing jeans and a cool top.”

HOW DO YOU GET READY FOR A PARTY?

“When we can party properly, I like to play a really good playlist and have a bop - and make sure I can dance in whatever I’m wearing!”

WHAT SONG IS GUARANTEED TO GET YOU ON THE DANCEFLOOR?

"Never Too Much by Luther Vandross."

Daisy wears SABER and carries BON BON

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE SHOE FROM OUR AUTUMN WINTER 2020 COLLECTION?

" My favourite shoes from the collection are the CRUZ boots. I love how the collection includes off-duty styles as well as glamorous heels.”

WHAT ARE WORDS THAT YOU WOULD USE TO SUM UP JIMMY CHOO?

“Confident, playful, glamorous, characterful and comfy.”

WHAT SUPERPOWER WOULD YOU LIKE TO HAVE?

“If I had a superpower I think I’d like to be able to fly, just so I was able to get a different perspective.”

WHAT DEFINES GLAMOUR IN 2020 TO YOU?

"Confidence."

"What defines glamour in 2020? Confidence"
