JIMMY CHOO PRODUCT CARE

JIMMY CHOO uses the highest quality of Leathers and Materials. To enable you to enjoy your JIMMY CHOO product for a long time, we recommend to take note of the following care information.

Our products are the result of extensive research, resulting in the fine details synonymous with high quality luxury. Slight variations in leathers and exotic skins are entirely normal for the type of natural leathers used by JIMMY CHOO.

  • All types of leather and other delicate materials (including metal accessories) may suffer from humidity. Humidity, salt and atmospheric agents in general can cause permanent and irreversible wear and tear. Therefore please take care to avoid rain and direct contact with heat, oil, grease (make up), alcohol (perfume solvents) and other abrasive products as JIMMY CHOO cannot assume responsibility for the eventual deterioration, modification and mishandling of our products.
  • Avoid contact with any materials which may transfer their colour pigments onto our products.
  • All materials are sourced for their exceptional quality and are tested extensively prior to sale.
  • Always store your product in the dust bag provided when not in use.

If you require any additional and specific care guidance for your product, please do not hesitate to view the Materials Guide below. You may also ask for advice in your JIMMY CHOO store, or for any further information you can contact our Customer Services team via the link here.

REPAIRS AND AFTERSALES

Whether you have purchased online or in store, JIMMY CHOO offers an excellent after care service and will assist with all repairs where possible. Please note that some styles may be irreparable depending on the materials used and the age of the product. You may refer to a detailed description of all of our materials within this guide.

We strongly discourage the addition of rubber protective soles onto JIMMY CHOO products as this will alter the balance of the shoe and may cause the heel to break. Repairing heel damage due to the alteration of soles may incur a charge.

If you purchased from the website and would like to enquire about any aftersales services, please contact Customer Services and a member of the team will be pleased to advise on the best course of action. You can contact our Customer Services team via details at the link here.

For in-store purchases, our boutiques offer an aftercare service and will be delighted to assist you directly with your enquiry. Store location and contact details can be found via the Store Locator at the link here. If it is inconvenient to contact your point of purchase directly, you may alternatively contact Customer Services.

Leathers

As a natural material, even the most luxurious leathers can age with time and use and need to be cared for to maintain their optimum condition. Naturally tanned leathers such as Vacchetta may with use and exposure to light alter in colour. This is not a fault and is seen as the natural aging of this beautiful material.

Due to the nature of Patent Leathers and the finish used, it is possible that dye can transfer onto the leather causing irreversible damage. Always store your product in its dust bag and avoid contact with darker colour materials.

Asphalt Patent

Mirror Leather

Dirt adhering to patent can be easily removed with a damp cloth. With wear, patent leather may eventually lose its glossy finish, but will still remain smoother than most other types of leather. Products should be kept in their dust bag when not in use and avoid contact with darker or heavily printed materials. Care should be taken to avoid contact with alcohol or any type of solvent.

Biker Leather (shoes)

Biker Leather (shoes)

Biker leather is extremely soft meaning that it can be easily scuffed with use. However, this can usually be resolved by a good repair company. As with Nappa, this soft leather will stretch with use which should be accounted for during fitting. Light stains can be gently treated with a baby wipe. Alternatively, a light facial cleanser can be used at your discretion to buff up tired or marked areas of the product.

Biker Leather (bags)

Light stains can be gently treated with a baby wipe. Alternatively a light facial cleanser can be used at your discretion to buff up tired or marked areas of the product.

Avoid scratching or excessive abrasion as the texture cannot be repaired once damaged. Should be stored away from humidity and sources of heat.

Brushed Matt Calf

Classic Calf

Classic calf leather is very absorbent and therefore we suggest clients apply a leather protector (Woly or Furniture Clinic) before use to prevent irreversible staining or watermarks. Over time and with exposure to light, this leather will gradually become darker in colour. This mellowing effect is regarded as a natural feature of the material, and is not a defect. Light scratches on the leather can be buffed away using clean fingers to rejuvenate the natural oils on the leather.

Coarse Metallic Leather

Coarse Metallic Leather

Please be aware that as with all metallic finishes, with time and abrasion, some surface finishing may be lost. Due to the metallic finish on the leather, we advise avoiding liquids containing alcohol or solvents. This material is very absorbent and therefore once a stain is deeply ingrained it can be impossible to remove. We recommend that products in pale colours are sprayed with a suitable suede protector (Woly or Furniture Clinic). Due to the metallic finish, the protector must be water based and not contain alcohol or solvents. A soft, rubber suede brush may also be used to lightly clean away loose dirt but should be used with care to ensure that material is not damaged.

The care suggestions for this fabric are the same as for standard patent leather. A care card is included with all patent products to advise that this type of leather can easily absorb ink or pigments when in contact with darker surfaces. Once this type of damage occurs, this stain cannot be removed as it quickly becomes engrained into the leather. We suggest patent leather products are kept in a dust bag when not being used to avoid this.

Loose dirt may be wiped away with a soft damp cloth. Please ensure to blot up any excess moisture with a soft dry cloth and allow the product to dry naturally in a cool place away from the sunlight and direct heat.

Glitter Leather

Glitter Leather

As with all glitter leathers, the glitter finish may be removed with wear and abrasion. This is not a fault and the glitter finish cannot be re-applied. We advise against treating with any liquids containing alcohol as this will damage the finish. Clean the product by gently wiping with a soft damp cloth and drying immediately. Do not use any cleaning products.

With a suede base, some care requirements will be similar to that of our classic suede. This means the material is very absorbent and deeply absorbs anything spilt onto it. Once a stain is deeply ingrained it can be impossible to remove. All glitter fabrics will lose a small amount of glitter – this is not a fault and is the nature of the material. If a glitter area becomes bald, the glitter cannot be reapplied. Consideration should also be made for the other materials used on the product in conjunction with this product, particularly the mirror leather. As with all metallic finishes, liquids containing alcohol should be avoided. We advise against the use of any cleaning product.

Satin

Extra care should be taken to avoid snagging with Satin or excess abrasion, as it may not be possible to repair once fraying occurs. Any satin can be damaged by friction, such as a full length dress rubbing on the top of the shoe. For this reason, please handle this item with due care. If you have purchased a light satin product we would recommend you spray the item with a suitable protector prior to use. JIMMY CHOO recommends Handbag Clinic products.

Any loose dirt should be wiped away with a soft dry cloth. For more deeply ingrained stains we would advise a professional cleaning service. Please note that shoes made from Satin are delivered in protective poly (plastic) bags. Please ensure the shoes are always kept in their protective packaging.
