Introducing Jimmy Choo x YK Jeong
In a unique fusion of cultures and styles, Jimmy Choo’s Creative Director, Sandra Choi has collaborated with renowned Korean celebrity stylist YK Jeong to devise a new capsule collection – The Highlighted. Their shared passion for the world of celebrity and the power of transformation through fashion unite these two creatives. The collection represents a fusion of different aesthetics, different cultures and different points of view, to create something exciting and new. The Jimmy Choo x YK Jeong collection reinvents a core of timeless Jimmy Choo styles, injecting them with fresh and dynamic energy. Not a redesign but a remix.
The leitmotif of the collection is a bold injection of fluorescent, neon colour - tied to highlighter pens, used to underscore key phrases and draw attention to the exceptional. It is also a nod to YK Jeong’s reputation for launching Korean rising stars into the limelight. Highlighter-bright shades of zinging orange, yellow, blue and pink neon are used to accentuate and underline design features, to energise and emphasise.
YK JEONG AND I WERE FIRST BROUGHT TOGETHER BY A PAIR OF SHOES – THROUGH HIS FEATURING OF OUR ABEL PUMP ON TELEVISION, PROPELLING THE STYLE TO INCREDIBLE GLOBAL SUCCESS. IT’S AMAZING TO WORK WITH SOMEONE WHO NOT ONLY RESPECTS AND LOVES THE CODES OF JIMMY CHOO BUT – EXCITINGLY – WANTS TO TAKE IT SOMEWHERE BOLD, BRAVE AND NEW.
WHEN THINKING ABOUT THIS COLLABORATION I IMAGINED SOMETHING FUN AND EXCITING LAYERED ON TOP OF JIMMY CHOO’S EXISTING SILHOUETTES. I THINK OF THIS AS PROVIDING AND STYLING A NEW OUTFIT FOR THE DESIGNS. FOR A WHIMSICAL K-FASHION TOUCH, I ADDED MY PERSONAL FAVOURITE, A BACKLESS LOAFER.
