Flats Style Challenge
Linda Tol is a Milan-based, Dutch influencer and trend forecaster with a background in fashion PR & editorial. Known for her androgynous style and mastery of tailoring, she’s the perfect muse for Jimmy Choo’s dual gender Borrowed from the Boys collection, available in both men’s and women’s sizes. Here she gives us the low-down on why she’s always been a flats fan.
What is about flat shoes that you love?
I love to feel cool and comfortable. It’s important for me that my shoes are practical and that they actually work for my lifestyle. I run or bike around all day, so wearable and easy shoes are a must. Plus flats fit my style the best—they look so great with tailoring and bring a more masculine edge to dresses and skirts.
What does masculine style mean to you?
My version of masculine is all about wearing oversized silhouettes. Trousers, big sweaters, shirts or T-shirts (I love to borrow from my boyfriend’s wardrobe!) all look great cut big and baggy. I love the shapes that take cues from menswear-inspired style. It’s just the type of dressing that best fits my body type.

Do you think the look can be sexy or is that beside the point?
I definitely think that flats can look sexy because you can always add a feminine touch. An oversized big sweater with a mini skirt can be super sexy, while wide leg trousers with a button-down shirt and a pair of kitten heels will always feel really feminine. I do definitely also believe that sexiness comes from the inside—it’s not the clothes you wear it’s your confidence and attitude.

Who is your androgynous style icon?
Caroline de Maigret without a doubt. Her style is so effortless and cool.
