Introducing Cruise '20
Ever poised, elegant, powerful and in the spotlight, the Jimmy Choo woman has a natural affinity with the universe of ballet. Both bold and beautiful, glamorous and rigorous, a constant search for perfection, and an interplay between hard and soft, that distinct world here inspires the Cruise 2020 collection.
The collection takes myriad inspiration from the world of dance - on the one hand, the colours, decorative motifs and grandeur of classical ballet; on the other, the vibrancy of modern dance, evocative of abstract movement, of a freshness tied to the idea of spring.
The notion of the entrance to the stage - when a dancer is first hit by the spotlight - is also akin to the entrance of the new year, when some of these styles make their debut on the world stage.
Inspired by that moment, BRECKEN and BEL are the stars. As an ankle boot or an evening sandal in tactile velvet or suede, both are defined by an aura of crystals along their welt and side seam, outlining their silhouette like a dancer’s caught in a halo of light. They are also reminiscent of an illuminated backstage mirror - another universal symbol of glamour.
Crystal serves to emphasise a new silhouette- chisel-toe, with a stiletto-wedge heel hybrid. Here encrusted in crystal, the ‘magic’ heel makes the shoe appear to float, caught weightlessly in the air.
The collection has more sensuality - fluidity, femininity, athleticism. And I love how, on pointe, a ballet dance stands strong, like a stiletto. She’s a natural muse for Jimmy Choo.

For the evening, an edit of whimsically decadent shoes complement the story. Playing with the idea of the ribbon, the SCARLETTE pump bears an abstract bow, cut from patent leather and nappa - chic, sharp, almost dangerous, poised on the toe as if about to leap into the air. Colours are feminine, echoing the shades of the collection as a whole: a delicate ballet pink, a strident bubble pink, black, alongside shades of spotlight gold.
ODETTE 100 offered in ballet pink and black, are centred around embroidered swan lace with the ankles circled with sets of an embroidered jewel constellation of appliqué stones and a large crystal and feather plume. BAILEY 100 continues the evening story with a crystal covered pump and a pearl-detailed Mary Jane strap.
Accessories alight on the same colour story, and the underlying themes of power through femininity - they dance between ideas of hard and soft. The importance of the VARENNE is emphasised, executed in the season’s new colourways.
The interplay of hard and soft inspires a new evening bag - the BON BON. Sweet but bold, a drawstring pouch cinched with a chain lariat and half with a bracelet handle in faceted metal or strass, its material is a canvas for a multitude of colours and trembling embroideries - a new notion for evening.
Unapologetically sexy and unashamedly evening - a modern interpretation of the enduring glamour of Jimmy Choo.
